A complete set of reeds featuring my new polycarbonate bass drone reed with standard pitch tenor reeds.
Following a year of development and testing, I am delighted to introduce a new bass drone reed to the market. The new Canning Polycarbonate Bass is modeled on the classic carbon fibre bass drone Reed, however the introduction of a different tongue gives pipers a greater range of options when selecting the type of reeds and materials they prefer to work with.
During its development, the polycarbonate bass was tested in every possible weather condition, including conditions of extreme cold and wet. The reed has proven to handle moisture extremely well even in the wettest of conditions- an essential quality to any piper who needs to be able to count on their reeds regardless of the weather. I personally tested the new bass by playing it in every band and solo competition of the 2011 season, including winning all five major championships with the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band.
Matched perfectly with my own standard pitch tenor reeds.

Occasionally some models of bagpipes may require higher pitched reeds to achieve their optimal performance. For that reason I now offer you the ability to build a set of reeds that are perfect for your pipes - should that be higher pitched (shorter) tenor reeds with a standard bass or vice versa. Use the drop down boxes below to create the perfect reeds for your pipes.
